School, school, school, and now
college, college, college, nonsense taking up my time.
Some good news though!
I got into all three colleges I applied too. (Art Institute of Boston, School of Visual Arts NY, and Parsons the New School for Design.) I'm about 89% positive that I'll be attending SVA. haha I'm a terrible decision maker but it has 7 stories dedicated to photography. I'm pretty sure it should be an easy decision. :D
Ever since I've gone "pro" my flickr account has been getting more views. :] That always makes me pleased. Check it out. I've traveled a lot recently. Got some good pics up there.
I got my wisdom teeth out on thursday. It was a terrible thursday, and an okay friday. Today I'm feeling much better.
I should be doing hw but I'm not. :O oh well.
Happy Saturday :]

I'd Like You To Hear: Snow Patrol.
Although you all probably know and love Snow Patrol since they got big last year. With songs featured on Grey's Anatomy and what not, there is probably no doubt. I just feel as though I need to post this one. It's been stuck in my head for the past three days. A true sign of a killer song.
I hate having to post it off of Yahoo Music because of the short commercials in the beginning. (What is with all the good videos on YouTube having their embedding option disabled?!) But seriously, wait out the few seconds of cereal or air freshener nonsense and bask in the glorious sights and sounds of Snow Patrol's - Crack the Shutters.

I'd Like You to Hear: Ingrid Michaelson.
Ingrid Michaelson has a beautiful, unique quality to her voice that I love. Last year this song was featured in an Old Navy commercial for sweaters around Christmas time, so you may recognise it.
I thought the video was pretty cute.

Inspiration: Johanna.
My latest inspiration: Johanna, the contestant and winner of the new CW's newest show, Stylista.
I know I'm a sucker for reality shows, but ONLY the good ones, I promise. So these contestants were competing for a the position of Junior Editor at ELLE magazine, an apartment for the duration of the contract, and a one year clothes allowance from H&M. Johanna beat out 10 other contestants and scored the job. (Which she totally deserved.)
I love her style. Structured, sophisticated, and still colorful.

DIY UPDATE
So remember about 100 years ago when I decided to make that headband from Urban Outfitters? I finished it about 3 days later, and just never took any pictures or anything. So here are some now.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos. As well as the poor quality of my appearance. I haven't had any reason to leave the house the past week due to that wonderful ice storm that hit New England, so I've just been kind of hanging out lately.
So anyways- that was the the pheasant feather version of the headband. I wore it to school a couple times and got several different reactions. Some loved it, some called me a bird (so clever, I know.) Some were impressed that I made it, some said that they were reminded of Kenley. (Third runner up on the last season of project runway.)
She was always wearing some sort of feathery thing on her head. Unfortunately she wasn't wearing feathers in this photo I found, but hey.
So I started a new one headband just a few days ago with guinea feathers. I finished the headpiece but I have yet to glue it on to the headband.

So once I get around to finding some hot glue, it'll be done. Then I was thinking of venturing away from feathers and trying to make something new. We'll see how things go!
Hope you're having a great day! ;]

I'd Like You To Hear: Matt Pond PA.
I must admit, Matt Pond PA is one of those bands that I'll never get sick of. His voice has a certain quality to it that melts my heart. What made me decide to feature this band, beside the fact that they are amazing, is that they came out with a new EP titled Freeep. That's right "free ep". Download it in it's entirety right here. Gotta love the chance for free (legal) music. Especially if it's this good.
The video featured below is for their single, So Much Trouble, off one of my favorite albums, Several Arrows Later. Enjoy!

Sorry!
Sorry I haven't posted in a long while. A lot of things have been going on lately, and while trying to sort them all out, I ended up neglecting my blog. But all will change soon. I plan on updateing more frequently. I finished the headband I've been working on, and bought some pretty rad accessories. Just need to get on top of things and take some more photos! I also plan to continue making hair accessories. I have tons of new ideas all I need now is some funding! haha
Again, sorry for the unexpected break there.
Soon it will be back to normal. :]

I'd Like You to Hear: Airborne Toxic Event
Particularly their newest hit, "Sometime Around Midnight." I loved the song from the first time I heard it and it was because of that, that I decided to make them my next featured band. I've never seen the video before now, and let me tell you. Absolute brilliance. I loved every second of it.
Visit their myspace here. Oh how I wish I could attend their acoustic performance at Newbury Comics thats coming up, but last time I drove down for one of those (to see Anthony Green this summer) there was a line all the way down the street and we never made it in. Depressing.

DIY: Success!!
So with some Arizona Green Tea, and some Project Runway Reruns this afternoon, I completed the main piece of the feather headband. I could not be anymore excited!

If I do say so myself, there is a striking resemblance with the original $24.00 one. The only difference? This one cost me $20.00 less. :]
Tomorrow I'm going to go see if I can find a nice thin metal headband. Then I'll post the final pictures!

DIY - Feather Hair Accessories
Okay so I've been in LOVE with this feather headband from U.O.

But I didn't want to pay $24.00 plus shipping and handling. So then I found this at Bona Drag:

Instead of a headband its a hair clip. Only $15.00 plus shipping.
SOOOO since I don't have a job and I'm lucky I have some pennies in a jar right now, I hit up the local craft store and got some sweet Almond Pheasent Feathers, Heart Pheasent Feathers, and Guinea Feathers. Stay tuned!
